In this one-on-one class we will explore any project you choose to weave, learning at your own pace with a dedicated instructor. You may choose from the projects we do in our group classes or email us for custom projects so we can help you choose the number of days you will need to weave your project.
What You’ll Learn
This depends entirely on your chosen project and experience level. Past private sessions have included:
- Loom setup for tapestry, rigid heddle, or floor/table looms
- Custom project guidance (shawls, rugs, tapestries, etc.)
- Techniques: twill, clasped weft, double weave, textural methods
- Pattern reading, yarn selection, finishing techniques
*This is a private workshop and requires individual booking.
We have four levels of workshops:
1. A one day class to create a small tapestry weaving project.
The 3hr consultation is great if you need to problem solve anything on your loom or need guidance with a project you are starting on.
The 6hr class is perfect for beginners wanting to learn how to weave on a tapestry frame or if you want to explore new and more complex techniques on a lap loom.
Projects: Tapestry wall hanging (circular and rectangular), bookmarks, jewellery, large scale tapestry, imagery/scenic tapestry.
2. A two day class to create a small weaving project. Each day has 4-8hrs of instruction.
The 8hr class is great to learn the basis of weaving on a rigid heddle loom.
The 12hr class is perfect to learn the basis of weaving on a table or floor loom with a custom project.
The 16hr class is a more intensive 2 day class where you can weave a larger custom project on a table or floor loom.
Projects: Small wall hanging, sampler of techniques, coasters, small rag rug.
3. A three day class to create a small-medium size weaving project. Each day has 5-6hrs of instruction.
For weavers of all levels who would like guidance with any type of technique or project they wish to learn in a shorter days.
Projects: Tea towels, medium rag rug, medium wall hanging, baby blanket, scarf, placemats, table runner.
4. A four day class to create and explore a larger or more complex weaving projects. Each day has 5hrs of instruction.
This class can be taken for more intensive weaving projects or if you simply want to learn at a gentler pace with shorter days.
Projects: Baby blanket, placemats, table runner, shawl or poncho, small tapestry rug, textural wall hanging, fabric for fashion.
*These classes are also available in the comfort of your own home if you have a loom you need help or guidance with. Travel fees will be charged after booking and will vary depending on your location.
Materials
Materials are not included. You may bring your own or purchase yarn packs from the studio.
We're happy to assist with yardage and yarn recommendations before your session.
