Our Journey
What is Loom Studio?
Loom Studio is a weaving and textile arts space rooted in Toronto and Caledon, dedicated to elevating contemporary craft through education, community, and design collaboration. We offer weaving classes and workshops for all levels—from beginner tapestry and rigid heddle weaving to intermediate and advanced floor-loom techniques—designed for curious beginners, committed hobbyists, and design professionals alike.
Our instructors focus on clear, supportive, and personalized teaching. Students learn foundational weaving skills, explore textile design principles, and experience the calming, meditative rhythm of working at the loom.
Loom Studio also partners with brands, retailers, and design studios to create custom weaving activations, pop-ups, and team-building experiences. Past collaborations include Simons, Roots, Yabu Pushelberg, LUUM, Stackt Market, Pencil, and Dart Studio. Our work has been featured in In The Hills and The Toronto Star.
Our Values
Loom Studio was founded to build a strong and inclusive textile community by making weaving accessible, well-taught, and connected to both tradition and modern design.
Our studio is a place to gather around the loom, reconnect with tactile craft, and experience the grounding, meditative qualities of weaving. We honour the cultural lineage of textile making while exploring its relevance in today’s creative industries—from interiors and product design to contemporary fibre art. We believe weaving offers more than a finished piece: it fosters mindfulness, focus, and a meaningful connection to material and process.
Community is at the heart of our work, creating a welcoming environment for shared learning, collaboration, and a collective appreciation for slow craft.
Sustainability is a key part of our philosophy. We use minimal, recycled packaging, encourage responsible material use, and prioritize long-lasting, quality tools and fibres. This approach reflects our belief that thoughtful making supports both the environment and the future of textile craft.
About Johana Cordero

Johana Cordero is a textile and fashion artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textile & Fashion Studies from Sheridan College and NSCAD University. With more than fourteen years of dedicated craftsmanship and eight years of teaching experience, Johana brings a deep technical foundation and a thoughtful, contemporary approach to her work.
Her practice blends traditional weaving, embroidery, and natural dyeing with modern design sensibilities, resulting in refined textiles with a strong material and technical focus.
She has created custom pieces and installations for Summerhill Market, Blue Mountain Resort, Villa Jasmine St Barth, Toyota, and film and television productions.
Sustainability and storytelling are central to Johana’s process. She works with natural and responsibly sourced materials, weaving textiles that reflect both cultural heritage and the personal narratives of her clients.
Loom Studio grew from her long-standing commitment to textile craft and community. In Johana’s words:
“Weaving is precise, intentional, and deeply rooted in tradition. I love the structure behind the cloth—the planning, the setup, the thoughtful selection of materials—processes that carry knowledge and stories across generations. I create for the meaning found in the work itself, and I teach to share that appreciation for detail and discipline to students who value the craftsmanship, and the depth of textile making"
