Explore the beauty and complexity of overshot weaving patterns in this two-day workshop. Using a table or floor loom, students will learn how to read traditional drafts and weave a range of classic patterns, while experimenting with fibres and colour.
What You’ll Learn
- How to set up a loom for overshot weaving
- How to read and interpret overshot pattern drafts
- Techniques for weaving 4–6 sample patterns
- How to use texture and fibre choice to alter visual effect
- Finishing techniques for samplers
Class Format
This is a two-day workshop:
- Day One: 9am–5pm (8 hrs)
- Day Two: 9am–5pm (8 hrs)

Materials
Warp: 2/8 cotton yarn (provided)
Weft: A variety of textured fibres and yarns will be provided

Prerequisite
This is a second-level beginner class. Experience reading pattern drafts and setting up 4-shaft looms is recommended.
