Rag Rug I - Floor Loom Weaving

Let’s make a recycled woven Rag Rug

• Students will learn the basics of setting up their floor loom from warping to tie up.

• They will learn the basics of plain weave as well as finishing techniques for their finished rug.

• The rag rug's final size will be approximately 22" W x 32"

• Students will be provided with 4/8 cotton yarn in a variety of colours for the warp.

• Students will have to bring old clothing or linens to weave their rugs.

• Typically for a small rug, a twin-size bed sheet is enough (or about 2 yards of fabric). Cloth can be cut into strips of 1/2"-1". You may look up tutorials on how to cut your materials into continuous strips or we are happy to give you a demo on the first day of class to prep your fabric for the next day.

Prerequisite: This is a beginner friendly class and welcomes all levels of experience.

You will receive an email reminder with more details about the workshop a week before the class date. If you do not finish your weaving within the class time, you can book extra weaving hours at $30/hr.
