Let’s make a recycled woven Rag Rug
Students will learn the basics of setting up their floor loom from warping to tie up.
They will learn the basics of plain weave, a variation of twills, as well as finishing techniques for their finished rug.
The rag rug's final size will be approximately 24" W x 34"
Students will be provided with 4/8 cotton yarn in a variety of colours for the warp.
Students will have to bring old clothing or linens to weave their rugs.
Typically for a small rug, a twin-size bed sheet is enough (or about 2 yards of fabric). Cloth can be cut into strips of 1/2"-1". You may look up tutorials on how to cut your materials into continuous strips or we are happy to give you a demo on the first day of class to prep your fabric for the next day. You can also purchase t-shirt yarn at the studio if you do not have clothing to repurpose.
Instructor: Johana Cordero
Prerequisite: This is a beginner friendly class and welcomes all levels of experience.
You will receive an email reminder with more details about the workshop a week before the class date. If you do not finish your weaving within the class time, you can book extra weaving hours at $30/hr.
* We are happy to offer you a payment plan to pay for your workshop if you cannot afford the full amount. Contact us to make arrangements before the class date.
